Sorry I haven't posted anything new...

So I finally posted some new pictures. Sorry it has taken a while. I started facebook too, so I have posted some of the photos on there and was neglecting the blog. Keyton deployed to Afghanistan March 1st and seems to be doing well everytime we talk. Luckily we have the capability of email and get to talk to him about once per week. We miss him so much! He is supposed to have a two week leave in December, so it will be a while until we see him.

Kyla is quickly approaching her last day of school. It's hard to believe we will have a 2nd grader soon! She continues to do very well in the Spanish Immersion program and will continue next school year. She will be going to day camp for a couple of weeks and then we leave for Colorado in the middle of June. Kyla will be staying with my parents for a month, so I am not sure what I will do with myself!

I promise to keep posting new pictures and updates. Next weekend we are headed to Kenai to stay at the Space Camp for a night with Kyla's girl scout troop. We are excited to see Kenai, as this will be the first trip for us. So I'll be sure to post some pictures!

We went to the Eagle River Nature Center for one of Kyla's field trips. It was a lot of fun. The salmon "fry" were in the beginning stages of their journey. We saw tons of them and it was neat to know this would be where they return once they are ready to spawn.

Flurries n' Fun!!!

Here we are enjoying the many inches of snow we have already gotten, and it's only December! Keyton and Kyla went sledding in our front yard and our street a couple of weeks ago and then we all went tubing on Fort Elmendorf at the Hillberg Ski Hill. It was a lot of fun, and snowing like crazy that day!

Kyla Lost Another Tooth!

This makes Kyla's 4th tooth she has lost now. She lost her top left last night while at her afterschool program. The kids were all playing tag and she ran into someone's arm and it got knocked out. Blood everywhere, but she's a trooper and didn't cry!!! The toothfairy brought her a dollar last night. She's very excited.

So according to the counter, we have been here for 152 days and 9 hours (almost 4 months). It's crazy how fast time is flying. I am doing much better than I originally anticipated-which is a good thing. When I talk to family and friends it seems like we are still only down the street from one another and it makes me miss being home and seeing everyone. I have definitely had a few really tough days, though. My time here so far as led me to think a couple of things: how much I miss (and never really realized how good we had it) having family and friends around and the convienent location of bathrooms, stores, gas stations, and chain restaurants in the lower 48. The people here are so very nice. Before coming here people talked about the "close knit communities", and I have to say, I definitely see what they were talking about. It seems like the people who have lived here for most or all of their lives, live very simple, happy, and fulfilled lives. I feel myself falling in love with Alaska. In some ways it seems a lot like Colorado and I enjoy the small feeling Anchorage and Chugiak bring. I have been very lucky to find a great job, with a very supportive boss and office staff. Kyla is in a great school and is experiencing wonderful opportunities everyday. Keyton is still adjusting to his new unit and seems to still be having difficulty with our assignment to Alaska (will he ever like the cold?), but we hope to bring him around soon... Overall, I am happy we have chosen to move here and be with Keyton, having our family together has been worth the hardship for the last 152 days. I'll post more later, but remember, our home is open if you want to visit!
